Tokyo, June 17, 2010 - NEC Corporation (NEC; TSE: 6701) and CA Technologies (Tokyo; President: Buster Brown) (*1) announced today they are further strengthening their cooperation in the application performance management software field.
NEC will provide a new "Service Performance Management solution" that is enabled by real-time integration between "CA Wily Introscope(R)" (*2) application performance management software, provided by CA Technologies as an original equipment manufacturer (OEM), and NEC's system performance analysis software "MasterScope Invariant Analyzer" (*3).
The combination of both companies' products enables the new solution to automatically visualize, analyze and diagnose the root causes of complex Web applications' internal performance, which is usually a black box, in addition to detecting declining responses from Web applications and their possible causes from IT infrastructure.
Specifically, the solution automatically detects and performs real-time analysis of silent failures (performance deterioration that does not appear in error messages) that differ from normal behaviors. Analyzing tens of thousands of performance metrics of Web applications collected through CA Wily Introscope, NEC's MasterScope Invariant Analyzer enables even junior level operators to quickly isolate failures.
Cloud computing provides an environment where platform management and its related services can be managed independently. One of the greatest challenges to these services is assuring that performance problems are quickly detected and minimizing the time and cost for determining whether a problem originated from the platform or the application.
NEC has recognized the increasing needs for cloud computing application performance management, strengthening the support for mission critical systems and developing OEMs for application performance management software. CA Wily Introscope is a global standard in its field and NEC's adoption of CA Wily Introscope as an OEM supports the development of products that are capable of large scale, reliable achievements. The integration of both companies' products and technological strengths will further enhance their management and monitoring capabilities to support mission critical systems.
NEC will coordinate and expand sales of the new solution by promoting its adoption within large scale mission critical systems focused on domestic data center telecommunications and financial systems. The solution is also planned for introduction to international markets, including China and Taiwan. Domestic shipments are expected to begin in July 2010.
Since NEC and CA Technologies began cooperative sales of CA Wily Introscope in 2006, a large number of the systems have been purchased by domestic telecommunications carriers. Today, each company's understanding of the growing need for cloud computing application performance visibility has resulted in a strengthening of their ongoing partnership.

NEC's independent analysis technologies enable the MasterScope Invariant Analyzer software to observe and model systems under normal conditions then detect silent malfunctions through failures among "the permanent (invariant) connections within performance information" and automatically identify the errors' characteristics.
